Dear Instructor Candidate,

Thank you for choosing Safecity as your Course Provider. I have detailed below the course information you require. Dates and costs of all the courses are on page two of this application form.

The course will be held in Canberra. We will announce the exact location at a later date.

When we receive your application and fee, we will send you the Course Instructor Manual (s) and the Senior First Aid Course Manual. (If you have First Aid qualification to this level or higher, you do not need to attend this day of the course. Please provide a copy of your certification and deduct $100 from the course fee.)

IMPORTANT: When you receive the Senior First Aid course manual, please begin studying and completing the lessons. The practical component will be conducted on day 1 of the course.

Cost includes: Course manual(s), Ammunition, Computer Software, Tuition, Senior First Aid Certification, Certificate IV Security Industry Firearms Instructor Course including the ACT Security Industry Firearms Instructor Course.
 

Certificate IV Security Industry Firearms Instructor Course

Course requirements:

You should be proficient in the use of firearms: revolver and semiautomatic pistol.
Personal coaching can be made available prior to the commencement of the firearms course if required. Please bring your firearm licence or equivalent.

Please bring the following equipment to the firearms instructor course:

• Company firearms: Semiautomatic Pistol and or Revolver
• Duty belt, complete with belt keepers, double magazine pouch, double speed loader pouch, holsters for semi auto and revolver
• Range safety equipment (wrap around shooting glasses, ear protection, baseball type cap).
• Overalls and/or other appropriate range apparel
• Notepad, pen and writing material

Defensive Tactics, Baton and Handcuffs Instructor (Graduates will achieve qualifications in the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training #BSZ40198 and Certificate in Employ Batons and Handcuffs #15572ACT).

Course requirements

You should be proficient in the use of weaponless techniques, batons and handcuffs. (A background in self-defence or martial art is not necessary but is recommended.)

Please bring the following equipment to the course:

• Long baton and expandable baton
• Duty belt complete with keepers, expandable baton pouch and long baton ring
• Uniform, overalls and/or other appropriate apparel. Please note gym wear and other sporting apparel is not permitted. All training in this course will be conducted in uniform
• Notepad, pen and writing material

All the above items are available from Safecity at nominal prices for candidate instructors. During this course Safecity instructors use the Australian made ANTAP Combat on a three piece 21" expandable baton.

Course Training Aids and First Aid Certification Course

Candidate instructors use a fully illustrated course manual with step-by-step photographs and diagrams.  The student manuals mirror the instructor manual.

The course also makes use of Safecity's Quiz Wizard software which I designed to help trainees with their studies.

This is the only Australian Firearms Instructor course to include Senior First Aid certification. In the event of an injury, the Instructor is able to offer immediate care which may save lives. This is also a course requirement for the Certificate IV accreditation.

Safecity's course includes an extensive module on communication skills. Safe handling and accuracy are two important factors of firearms instruction. The third, and equally important factor, is the ability to respond to threats correctly, deal with difficult persons appropriately and be able to perceive and avoid threats which may require the use of a firearm. This important subject is often overlooked in other courses of this nature.

In this course you will learn and practise teaching skills specifically designed for firearm instructors. After a comprehensive briefing from your course providers you will plan, rehearse and practise the full firearms course program that you will be conducting for your future students. If you apply yourself and cooperate with your course providers, I guarantee that by the end of the program you will be ready to teach a quality firearms accreditation course

If through no fault of your own you are unable to successfully complete the practical component of the course, I will enrol you in the subsequent course free of charge. This offer obviously does not apply if you do not cooperate and are unwilling to study the course material and complete the assessment activities.

I guarantee that your course will be conducted in a dignified and supportive environment. • Range Safety Equipment (Wrap around shooting glasses, Ear protection) baseball type cap.
• Tactical overalls and/or other appropriate range apparel
• Long baton and expandable baton

Please remember:  All practical defensive tactics techniques, baton and handcuffs training and firearms training will be conducted in uniform.
