PROBLEM: Right now recruiting competent officers is a problematic task for most employers. 

The efforts of authorities to improve the standard of training are being negated by the actions of a few unethical training providers. 

Mandatory Police and State Training Authorities literacy and numeracy requirement are being ignored, resulting in the licensing of guards who are unable to read standing orders or interpret assignment instructions.

SOLUTION:  All officers undergo comprehensive literacy, numeracy,  IQ and attitude testing BEFORE being accepted in a Safecity sponsored course.

Our tutors receive specialised training which enable them to provide a supportive environment and conduct ego building role plays.  Our activities aim to build a strong team spirit, improve communication skills and attitudes and improve the self-esteem of all participants.   

Trainees who display undesirable behaviour (swearing, cheating and acts of aggression) are referred to appropriate counselling services and receive a full refund of their fees.  

Whilst no one can safely predict the behaviour of a person, I believe that the measures we have in place greatly minimise the entry of undesirable persons in the industry.

 

Competency tests and quality assured training 

PROBLEM: Arbitrary shortening of training hours, fraudulent abuse of the principle of recognition of prior learning, and training scams operating under a legitimate cover, are resulting in not yet competent persons to obtain licences. Sadly, some officers are opting to use these shortcuts in order to avoid re-training.

SOLUTION: Under our Project, graduates receive over 100 hours initial training to Certificate II in Security (Guarding) level. 

Graduates are contracted to undergo regular quarterly ongoing training updates for as long as they remain within  the Project. 

All licensed officers who apply to join our Project are assessed for competency at entry point by undergoing a comprehensive assessment activity which assesses theoretical and practical knowledge.

Successful applicants are then inducted into the training program which provides them with the additional competencies required to perform their duties.

Applicants who successfully complete the attitude assessment activity but are not yet competent in the theoretical component are given the opportunity to eliminate knowledge gaps. 

Participants progress through a series of training programs. At the end of each training program, their status or rank advances. As the rank increases, it generates job satisfaction and motivates the participants to obtain further training.
