I need my existing staff to upgrade their qualifications and skills to Certificate III (Please note that traineeship does not apply to staff employed for longer than 3 months if employed full time or longer than 12 months if employed part-time or causal)
  • Example I: You have 20 staff members who need to obtain a Certificate III in Security Guarding which includes Firearm Accreditation and Defensive Tactics Baton and Handcuffs. (NSW, ACT and WA)
  • Example II: You need all your staff to upgrade their qualifications to become CCTV and Alarm Installers. (NSW, ACT, WA only)
  • Example III: You need your security guards to achieve qualifications in "Manage Dogs for Security Patrols". (NSW ACT and WA)

Call Safecity and speak with our Business Manager who will explain how to start the process.

This is what you can expect.
  • We ask you to tell us how many staff are intending to upgrade their qualifications.
  • We conduct an information meeting with yourself and selected staff and discuss the nature of the training.
  • We put you in touch with the New Apprenticeship Centre near you and liase with them and yourself.
  • You sign the traineeship application and agreement. You are asked to nominate a starting date and a term. For example, 12 December 2000, 20 hours per week for 12 months for a Certificate II in Security (Guarding.)
  • These traineeship applications are sent to the Government for approval
  • When the approval is granted you sign an indenture form (another word for contract).  From the moment you sign the indenture the trainees' Workers Compensation Insurance is covered by the Government.
  • We conduct the training and provide the qualifications
  • Three months after the nominated start date of the traineeship you are entitled to apply for your financial incentives. These could be as high as $1250 per trainee
  • There is a further $1250 progression incentive for staff who continue the traineeship from a Certificate II Level to a Certificate III or IV. This progression can only occur after your staff completes the Certificate II traineeship
  • There is a further incentive if you employ women in a non-traditional traineeship (security for example)
  • You may be eligible for even more financial incentives. Your New Apprenticeship Centre consultant will advise you.
  • We follow up on any future needs.

Traineeship in security and Traineeship in cleaning

What happens if I am not happy with the performance of a trainee.  Am I stuck with the traineeship agreement?
Not at all.  Remember that your rights as an employer to expect reasonable performance from staff remain in place.  You have the right to terminate a traineeship at any time. Of course, you must have valid and admissible reasons for doing so.

We have found that many employers render themselves vulnerable to false claims of unfair dismissal from rogue employees.  There is ample evidence to suggest that many employers are unaware of the necessary steps they must take to protect themselves from such claims.  These employers are vulnerable to false claims of unfair dismissal irrespective of the type of employment model they have selected.

In our experience, most trainees become loyal and productive staff members--many of them raising to management positions.  This is because trainees are self-motivated--they want to work and they want to learn.

There are no disadvantages in taking up a traineeship--only advantages.  Your competitors are enjoying the benefits that could also be yours.  These benefits make your competition more productive and cost effective.

Traineeship in security and Traineeship in cleaning Safecity's consultants can provide you with the necessary information and referrals to help you prevent becoming a victim of false claims from rogue employees.
