This program provides a solid professional coverage in both operations and management of a business within the investigative services industry. Careful selection of the electives for this qualification is required, as there are different focuses for the units. The qualification can either have a technical, management, or training focus as part of this program can be replaced by some units of the Assessment and Workplace Training package (train small groups and the assessor units can be substituted for two elective units). This unit covers the requirements for conducting an assessment in accordance with an assessment procedure in a specific context. Asset Maintenance (Cleaning) Units
PRMCL01A -- Maintain Hard Floor Surfaces
Approx 12 hrs
This unit covers both manual and mechanical
methods applied to hard floor maintenance at any frequency of application or
location. The elements comprising this unit of competence are not necessarily
sequential. The sequence will depend upon the context in which they are applied.
Topics include determining condition of floor, types of soil, equipment
selection and setup, area preparation, surface waste, dust mop application, damp
mop application, hard floor buff, waste disposal, and storage of equipment.
PRMCL02A -- Restore Hard Floor Finish
Approx 12 hrs
This unit applies to both mechanical or manual methods for floor surface restoration. Topics include identifying variables (including floor type, condition and method), select and setup equipment, area preparation, removal of embedded dirt, dust mop application, polish or spray buff application, restore work area, and storage of equipment.
PRMCL03A -- Replace Hard Floor Finish
Approx 12 hrs
This unit covers the industry process commonly called 'strip and seal'. Topics include identify variables (including floor finish and requirements), select and prepare equipment, sealants, area preparation, surface preparation, dust mop application, sealant application, storage of equipment and restoring floor to original condition.
PRMCL04A -- Maintain Soft Floor
Approx 8 hrs
This unit applies to the maintenance of soft floors using either manual or mechanical methods within any frequency requirement. Topics include identification of type and condition of soft floor covering, methods, equipment, waste removal, vacuuming, raking or sweeping, and storage of equipment.
PRMCL05A -- Remove Stains and Spillages From Soft Floors
Approx 8 hrs
This unit covers the removal of difficult soil from soft floor coverings. Topics include types of spots and stains, remedial action, chemical softening agents, foreign material, evaluation and reporting.
PRMCL06A -- Dry Foam Shampoo Carpet to Remove inground Dirt and Soil From Upper Layer
Approx 12 hrs
This unit should be applied in association with Unit PRMCL05A -- Remove stains and spillages from soft floors. Topics include site setup, machinery and equipment setup, pre-spotting, dry foam application, storage of equipment, and site restoration.
PRMCL07A -- Remove Dirt and Soil From Soft Floors Or Fabric Upholstery Using A Water Extraction Method

This unit covers the use of water extraction method of removing soil and dirt. Topics include site setup, extraction machinery and setup, preparing surfaces, extraction wand application, storage of machinery, and site restoration.

Approx 8 hrs
This unit applies to all glass surfaces, including windows, both internal and external. When applied to external windows, the unit may be applied with Unit PRMCL36 -- Carry out high level cleaning . When applied to glass on a frequent basis, Unit PRMCL15 -- Maintain furniture and fittings and dress an area or room is relevant to irregular spot cleaning of readily accessible glass surfaces. Topics include site preparation, equipment, surface preparation, application of equipment, site restoration and equipment storage.

This unit covers the cleaning of ceilings and fittings. Topics include site preparation, equipment, detailing, and equipment storage.

This unit covers the cleaning of external surfaces, including the removal of graffiti. Unit PRMCL36 -- Carry out high level cleaning, may need to be associated where cleaning is carried out above ground level. Topics include equipment, when to spot clean, cleaning agents and applications, and storage of equipment.

This unit covers the cleaning of external surfaces. Topics include when to clean external walls, equipment and setup, equipment use, and equipment storage.
