Is this baton and handcuffs course recognised by police and authorities in all states of Australia? The course is recognised in the state of Victoria, the ACT, Western Australia and NSW. The course is also recognised through mutual recognition in Tasmania.
At present, the carry and use of batons and handcuffs by security officers is not uniformly regulated in Australia. In some States it is possible for security officers to purchase and carry batons and handcuffs without the need to undergo training. The use of holding and blocking techniques are also not specifically regulated.
At common law it is reasonable to expect that any court dealing with a matter involving the use of force by a security officer will require the officer to produce evidence of training provided by an approved training provider using approved training standards.
What will I be able to do when I complete this course?
As a graduates of this course you will achieve competency in procedural, legal, technical and practical skills related to the safe handling and lawful use of defensive weaponless tactics, long and expandable batons, use of handcuffs and of the Tactical Options Protocol. The course provides you with competencies which will enable you to respond to basic workplace scenarios where the use of force is unavoidable.
What training material will I use? When you book and pay for your course you will receive a well illustrated, comprehensive defensive tactics, baton and handcuffs training manual. The manual contains all the administrative and training requirements you need to study and complete your course. You will be required to bring an expandable baton, a long baton, a set of handcuffs, a security belt, retaining ring and pouches. These items are available form Safecity at competitive prices.

You may elect to enrol in anyone of the modules separately or complete the full course in 28 hours

How much will the course cost?
The three day baton and handcuffs and
weaponless tactics course costs $250. The cost includes your training manual,
tuition, assessment and attractive wall certificate. You may elect to
complete the baton and handcuffs module $175. If you elect to complete the
one day weaponless tactics $80.

What happens if I don't complete the course or am unable to pass the assessment? If you are genuinely experiencing difficulties, Safecity will allow you to enrol in the following course free of charge.
How long does the accreditation last? The accreditation for the baton and handcuffs course lasts three years. However, Safecity recommends you attend a refresher course at least once a year. This may be conducted in one day.
